SAHMRI 2021 Work Experience Programs
SAHMRI provides work experience as an opportunity for participants to gain an understanding in health and medical research and the transformation of research into health outcomes. The SAHMRI work experience program has been developed for students to work in and be exposed to a variety of research programs and Themes, such as our Aboriginal Health Equity theme, Cancer program, Heart and Vascular Health, and Hopwood Centre for Neurobiology.
We are offering a limited number of students from Australian high schools who are currently undertaking Year 11 or Year 12 the opportunity for a work experience placement. You will gain a practical understanding of the different types of work in our research areas, which may help you when making your career decisions.
SAHMRI will be running two work experience programs in 2021. Each program is of 1 week duration. Please note that program two may fall during your school holidays. Please ensure that you are available to attend the full program before applying.
- Program One: 28th June – 2nd July 2021
- Program Two: 27th September – 1st October 2021
Please submit your application to be considered. Work experience placements should be arranged as part of your school’s recognised work-experience program.

- Attach a cover letter explaining why you wish to participate in the program
- And make sure you indicate which program you wish to apply for.
