ComPath’s Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory is run by our highly-qualified PCR scientists. We offer a range of standard and real time PCR assays to aid in the detection of infectious agents in specimens such as tissues, cell lines and other biological samples. Separate rooms are used for nucleic extraction, PCR set-up and interpretation of results to prevent cross-contamination between these steps. Assay controls safeguard against false negative results whilst all positives are automatically re-tested at no extra cost.
Screening cell lines prior to implantation is an increasing concern of research facilities. Knowing your cell line is clean from pathogens is very important and screening for these pathogens is easily accomplished at ComPath. While no defined cell-line screening panel is listed, we can customise the testing panel to suit your requirements. The majority of pathogens detected by serology techniques can be identified by PCR for cell-line screening purposes. Please contact the laboratory for more information.
Environmental swabs can be a plenum swab, a cage filter, cage swab, bench or floor swab or an exhaust fan/duct swab. Many pathogens are able to remain viable in the environment and may pose a threat to your colonies. If you require testing of environmental swabs, please contact the laboratory for more information. We can instruct you on how best to collect your samples and discuss what to do next if an unexpected result is obtained.
We commit many hours to our development projects in order to ensure we are able to offer new assays as soon as they become available. If you have special requests, please contact the laboratory and we will do our best to accommodate you.
